The cycling trails around Umm Qais are ideal for intermediate and advanced cyclists but its also fantastic for those wishing to find a gentle cycle. We offer a standard cycling path for those wishing to see the rolling farmlands of Umm Qais and the spectacular views that can be seen in the distance.

 

Your local guide will reveal the historical, cultural, and environmental wonders that can be found along the way while you stroll through the city and the farmlands, including but not limited to: Greco-Roman ruins, the Golan Heights, and the Jordan Valley.

10:00 –Site Tour of Gadara

Discover the history of Umm Qais with a tour of Gadara, a Greco-Roman city that has stood the test of time. Join a local guide on an English-speaking tour of the Greco-Roman city, the Ottoman Village, and the museum of Gadara. This is a tour that shouldn’t be missed.

11:30 – Gadara Cycling (Light Cycle)

Located in the Ottoman Village, the Gadara Bike shop is home to bike rentals and bike tours in Umm Qais. Meet Alaa, your local guide, before setting off on a journey along the rolling farmlands of Umm Qais. This trail is perfect for those wanting a gentle cycle with views all around.

14:00 – Local Kitchen

Taste the flavours of northern Jordan with a trip to one of our local kitchens. Sit on Arabic cushions, sip on sweet tea, and discover the unique dishes from northern Jordan. Chacheel is a must try!

16:00 – Yousef’s Honey

Head over to the beekeeping site in the evening to try your hand at beekeeping led by an experienced local keeper. Yousef will teach you about the bees, the intricacies of life in a hive, and even how honey is made. Don a beekeeping suit and get up close and personal with a hive- watch the bees as they continue with their work and even make way for the Queen.

Day 1

Beit Al Baraka

Check-in at Beit Al Baraka begins at 15:00 but we can sometimes arrange an earlier check in. We can also store your bags whilst you experience some of the many activities that the local community offer.

14:00 – Local Kitchen

16:00 – Gadara Cycling (Light Cycle)

18:00 – Romero

Watch the sun slowly set as you eat cold and hot mezza whilst perched above the Yarmouk Valley. Romero is a restaurant located in the heart of the ruins of Gadara. The restaurant employs people from the local community and has done so for many years.

Day 2

09:30 – Basket Weaving

Learn how to weave a coaster or basket with the help of a local artist. Uncover the techniques that’ve been used for generations! Intricate baskets of all sizes, materials, and colors are also available for purchase at Beit Al Baraka.

Beit Al Baraka

Check out at Beit Al Baraka is 11:00 but this can sometimes be pushed back so do ask our staff. We can also put your bags in storage until you’re ready to leave us.

I had a great time in the farmlands of Um Qais. I enjoyed seeing the farmlands of a region that I hadn’t visited before. Alaa was a fun guide that knew all the best spots for amazing views of the surrounding area.
