Beit Al Baraka - a must!!! - Beit al Baraka is the ideal place to experience all that Umm Qais has to offer. We did basket weaving with Manal which was so cool and harder than it looks. The 6 mile bike ride was gorgeous - on paved roads, very little traffic, with some hills. The tour of the Umm Qais ruins with Ahmad the tour guide was a highlight for me -- learning the history, seeing the views, hearing about his childhood among the ruins - incredible!
Lovely guesthouse with amazing rooftop terrace - I truly enjoyed my stay at the guest house. My room was large and very nice. There is a common room (living room) which is very large and cozy. But... read more then, the garden as well as the rooftop terrace are good spots to spend the evening, too The breakfast was fresh and yummy. I particularly enjoyed the "communal" atmosphere, all guests sitting at the same table. It is a place to meet other travellers, which makes it very nice. I was just a bit surprised about the price tag (ok, I booked it anyhow 🙂 ) - considering I paid more for the guesthouse than for a 5 star hotel in Amman

Well worth a visit - Beit Al Baraka is located in a small scruffy village overlooking beautiful, green, rolling countryside. The views across to the Golan Heights, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinian Territories are breathtaking... read more taking. The staff are so kind and attentive, Walid in particular, was exceptional. During our stay we visited the ancient ruins of Gedara with our excellent guide Ahmed, enjoyed a delicious lunch cooked by Na’ela and her sister in her local home, plus we did a cycle ride around the stunning countryside and a cookery class. All are highly recommended. The accommodation is simple but clean. We stayed in the garden room and picked our own kumquats for an afternoon snack. The breakfast was large, beautifully presented and featured many local products. This is a perfect peaceful and interesting place to stay for a few days.

The garden at the groundfloor and the common room upstairs are perfect for relaxing and for kids to play (quiet games). The lower terrace and rooftop terrace are fabulous places to wind down at the end of the day with a cup of mint tea. And the views from the roof are quite spectacular looking over an area where Jordan, Palestine/Israel, Lebanon and Syria intersect. As a base for exploring the ancient Roman ruins, going on some trail walks, Beit Al Baraka cannot be beaten!
As for the breakfast it has to be the BEST breakfast of anywhere in Jordan, with organic and locally sourced foods presented in the most delicious way!
